Seven hundred leaders of business, government, labor and academia attended the New Jersey Alliance for Action’s annual Eagle Awards dinner at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick.

Governor Jon S. Corzine congratulated the Alliance, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. “You are an organization that pulls together all aspects of our economc life in New Jersey,” Corzine said.

Frank McDonough, who was president of the Edison-based New York Shipping Association until his retirement last month, was honored with the President’s Award.

The Richard M. Hale Chairman’s Award was presented to Ralph A. LaRossa, president and chief operating officer at Public Service Electric & Gas Co.

The Ellis S. Vieser Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Benedict Torcivia, chairman and chief executive of Torcon.

Edward Cruz, owner and CEO of E.E. Cruz & Co., Inc. was honored with the Dr. John L. Buzzi Engineering Excellence Award.

Morris Rubino, business manager-emeritus of Ironworkers Local Union 68 was recognized with the Sigurd Lucassen Labor Award.

The Alliance paid special tribute to members of its Board of Directors who have given 25 or more years of continuous service. They are Mauro Checchio, Kim Foley, Art Guida, John Mullen, Barry Rosengarten, Herman Simonse and Richard Williams. (Courtesy of NJBIZ)
