    Presentation of the Eagle Awards for 2001 will highlight the 27th annual dinner of the New Jersey Alliance for Action on Wednesday October 17, at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick.
    As usual, the dinner will attract a capacity crowd of some 1,000 leaders from every walk of New Jersey life to what has been recognized as one of the state's top networking events.
    The coveted Annual Eagle Awards are presented annually to individuals and organizations making significant contributions to improve New Jersey's economy and overall quality of life.
This year's recipients are:
GOVERNMENT AWARD
State Senator Robert E. Littell has given the people of his district and the state an extraordinary record of public service during thirty-four consecutive years in the New Jersey Legislature, 23 years in the Assembly and in the State Senate since 1990. That record includes his current chairmanship of the important Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee.
LABOR AWARD
Raymond Pocino, Regional Manager, Laborers' International Union of North America, is saluted for his contributions to New Jersey's economic health and quality of life as an outstanding leader of organized labor and his long record of public service.
PRESIDENT'S AWARD
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is honored for its long and distinguished record of meeting the region's transportation needs and serving as an economic catalyst - including its new $9 billion capital program.
The dinner chairman is Brian W. Clymer, former State Treasurer who is now Vice President, External Affairs Department, The Prudential Life Insurance Company of America.
COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY AWARD
The presence of Continental Airlines as the largest carrier has helped Newark International Airport to unprecedented growth, climaxed by Continental's currently underway $1 billion expansion project to better serve the public's needs.
ALLIANCE COMMITTEE AWARD
As Co-Chairs of the Alliance's School Construction Committee, Joseph McNamara and Jack Kocsis played a critically strategic role in the development of New Jersey's unprecedented school construction and renovation program. McNamara is Director of the New Jersey Laborers' - Employers' Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) and Kocsis is Executive Director of the Building Contractors Association of New Jersey.
