Leaders of transportation, labor, construction and engineering will be honored by the New Jersey Alliance for Action with prestigious Eagle Awards at the 34th Annual Alliance Dinner on Wednesday, October 15, at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick.
Another sell-out attendance of close to 1,000 are expected to participate, representing business, labor, the professions, academia and government. A cocktail reception will be at 5:00 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. NJ Biz, newspaper has called this dinner “one of New Jersey’s top networking events of the year.”

Sigurd Lucassen Labor Award
Frank Spencer’s career spans four decades as a carpenter, union officer, community activist and public official. Beginning as a union carpenter more than 30 years ago, he has risen to become Eastern District Vice President of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He has served as a Camden County Freeholder, a member of the Camden County Planning Board and Improvement Authority and Chairman of the South Jersey Transportation Authority.

The Ellis S. Vieser Lifetime Achievement Award
As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Foley, Incorporated, Kim leads the dealership serving North Jersey, Staten Island and Bermuda for Caterpillar, the world’s leading supplier of equipment and support services to build infrastructure. Under his leadership, Foley, Incorporated has pioneered new initiatives to better serve his customers and developed a set of Core Company Values to ensure a culture focused on trust, mutual respect, communication, excellence and success.
ROBERT EPIFANO
Richard M. Hale Chairman’s Award
Robert Epifano is chairman of Epic Management, Inc., the construction and management services organization he founded in 1971. He is past President of the Building Contractors Association and is Chair of its Industry Advancement Fund. For the Associated General Contractors of America, he served on the Executive Board. The American Concrete Institute awarded him honorary membership for “outstanding leadership and vision.”
RICHARD R. SARLES
Alliance President’s Award
Richard R. Sarles is Executive Director of NJ Transit, the third largest transit agency in the nation, responsible for bus, light rail, and the commuter rail network used by more than 2.4 million people every year. A professional engineer, he previously served more than 20 years in construction, project management and planning for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
T. ROBERSON EDWARDS, PE
Dr. John L. Buzzi Engineering Excellence Award
As Senior Program Manager for NJ Transit, T. Roberson Edwards, P.E. managed the design and construction of the $216 million Meadowlands Rail Station project. He currently is on loan to the City of Newark as Acting Director of Engineering. For his work on the Secaucus Transfer project, he received the Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award of the N.J. Society of Professional Engineers.
