Christie Selects Dep And Education Commissioners
Governor-Elect Chris Christie today announced the nomination of two new cabinet officers.
Bob Martin, a senior partner at Accenture, a major business and technical consulting firm, has been tapped by Christie to be the new Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection.
Bret Schundler, former Mayor of Jersey City and the Republican Candidate for Governor in 2001, was nominated to be the new Commissioner of the Department of Education.
New Legislature Leadership Selected
Members of the State Senate and Assembly selected their leaders for the 214th Legislative Session, which began yesterday.
Senator Stephen Sweeney (D-Gloucester) has been elected Senate President. Senator Barbara Buono (D-Middlesex) has been elected Senate Majority Leader. Senator Tom Kean (R-Union) has been elected Senate Minority Leader.
In the Assembly, Assemblywoman Sheila Oliver (D-Essex) was elected as General Assembly Speaker. Assemblyman Joe Cryan (D-Union) was elected as Assembly Majority Leader. Assemblyman Alex DeCroce (R-Morris) was elected Assembly Minority Leader.
