ROSENGARTEN SAVES AND RESTORES HISTORIC
WILENTZ HOME

Barry Rosengarten, a developer and member of the Alliance for Action Board of Directors, has purchased the historic Wilentz house on High Street, Perth Amboy, and restored it to its original 1908 appearance. It was the home of the late David T. Wilentz, a former state attorney general and head of one of New Jersey’s most prominent political families. Wilentz prosecuted Bruno Richard Hauptmann in the famed Lindberg kidnapping trial.

Rosengarten first planned to raze the home as a site for 12 townhouses, but decided the building was too historic to destroy. In an editorial, the Home News Tribune said, “All who prize history owe Rosengarten a nod of gratitude.”

They are looking at installing sensors to monitor the integrity of structures like bridges and tunnels and helping local police and fire departments identify areas with high accident rates and how to reduce mishaps.
