HIGHLANDS PLAN TO BE ANNOUNCED
On Thursday, November 30th the Highlands Council will unveil its draft master plan detailing zoning rules that will impact a major portion of Northern New Jersey. The meeting will be held at the Council Office, 100 North Road, Chester, NJ at 10 a.m.

GOVERNOR CORZINE ANNOUNCES WINNER OF NATIONWIDE DESIGN COMPETITION FOR NEW STATE PARK IN PATERSON
Governor Jon S. Corzine announced the winner of a national competition to design a new state park in Paterson. Field Operations, an urban design and architectural firm was awarded the contract by a jury of professional designers and local stakeholders.

The new park will showcase the natural beauty of Great Falls, and highlight the City’s Native American and industrial history. “As the second largest waterfall east of the Mississippi, Great Falls in Paterson is both a natural and historic treasure said Governor Corzine. “New Jersey is eager to work with our federal and local partners to make certain that the full potential of this magnificent site is realized for the benefit of Paterson residents, New Jerseyans and Americans.”

SENATORS LAUTENBERG AND MENENDEZ RECEIVE KEY COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS
New Jersey’s two US Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez have received key committee assignments for the upcoming Congress. Senator Lautenberg will retain his seat on the Environmental and Public Works Committee. He will be the only Senator from the tri-state region on the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. Lautenberg has also been named as the Chairman of the Transportation Safety, Infrastructure Security and Water Quality Subcommittee.

Senator Menendez was nominated to the prestigious Foreign Relations Committee and will retain his seat on the Banking, Energy and Budget Committee.

Committee assignments in the House of Representatives will not be announced until December.

TURNPIKE EXPANSION DETAILED
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority will be conducting two public information sessions pertaining to the Authority’s Interchange 6 to 9 Widening Project. The sessions will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at the Holiday Inn (formerly Ramada Inn) at 399 Monmouth Street in East Windsor and Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Robbinsville High School, 155 Robbinsville-Edinburg Road in Robbinsville. The Authority staff will present an overview of the project and discuss conceptual plans for the widening. The meetings will begin at 4:00 p.m.

CONSTRUCTION OF RACETRACK GROWS NEARER
The State has gotten one step closer to having a NASCAR auto racing track. The Senate Economic Growth Committee approved a bill that would help bring a 700-acre race track complex to the southern New Jersey town of Millville. The legislation has twice passed the Assembly but hasn’t made it through the Senate.

NEW JERSEY UTILITIES EXECUTIVES TO DETAIL CAPITAL CONSTRUCTION PLANS
Entitled “New Jersey Utilities Turning On the Economy,” the presenters will include: Dennis Bone, President, Verizon New Jersey; Don Carter, Vice President & General Manager of Operations, Elizabethtown Gas Co.; Rodney Dickens, Vice President, Asset Management & Centralized Services, Public Service Electric & Gas; Larry Downes, Chairman & CEO, NJ Natural Gas; Ed Graham, President & CEO, South Jersey Gas Co.; Walter Lynch, President, NJ American Water; Stephen Morgan, President, Jersey Central Power & Light, and Ken Parker, President, Atlantic City Electric.

The program will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the Premiere Hotel (formerly Radisson) on Route 1 South in Princeton, and is jointly organized by the Alliance for Action and the New Jersey Utilities Association.

PORT AUTHORITY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RINGLER WILL OPEN MEET THE PLAYERS SERIES
Port Authority of New York & New Jersey Executive Director Ken Ringler is making a special visit to New Jersey to appear at the Alliance for Action’s Meet the Players series. On Wednesday, December 6 at the Alliance for Action office in Edison, Ringler will detail the Port Authority’s future, its infrastructure strategies and efforts to spur the economy.

Port Authority Chairman Anthony Coscia, who is also an Alliance Board Member, will introduce Ringler. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m.

PEOPLE ON THE MOVE
- Tom Michnewicz, has joined Somerset Development, a residential and commercial developer located in Lakewood, as Vice President of Development. Michnewicz was formerly the Senior Vice President at Advance Realty Group in Bedminster.
