The year 2002 is shaping up to be another active and productive one for the New Jersey Alliance for Action’s growing team of county affiliates.

The new year opened on February 1 when the Gloucester County Alliance for Action met to hear a presentation on the future of high tech in South Jersey by Dr. Philip Tummina, Executive Vice President of Rowan University.

The Hudson County Alliance followed on March 1 with a well-attended meeting featuring a report on Goldman Sach’s 65-story building to be constructed in Jersey City.

The Morris County Alliance convened on March 22 for discussion on traffic congestion, transportation funding and prevention of water pollution.

Progress on the Southern New Jersey rail project highlighted a meeting of the Camden County Alliance on April 5. The Bergen County Chapter met May 3 for reports on Commercial real estate, school construction and transportation.

The schedule for meetings of the other Alliance chapters is: Middlesex County, May 22; Monmouth County, June 7; Burlington County, June 28; Essex County, July 19; Atlantic County, August 9; Mercer County, October 25, and Ocean County, November 8.

Erica D. Ferry of South Brunswick, Director of Community Relations and Contributions Programs for Pharmacia Corporation, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Alliance for Action.

Prior to joining Pharmacia in February 1999, Ms. Ferry was Vice President of the Alliance, where she began in 1988 as a Project Coordinator and served in a number of executive positions. She is a graduate of Cook College of Rutgers U. and received a Master’s Degree in Communications and Information studies from Rutgers.
 

Gary Etter, Branch Manager/Senior Vice President, Greenman-Pederson, Inc., of Lebanon, replaces Michael Barrett, who retiredfrom the firm, as a member of the Alliance Board.

Barrett is succeeded as Secretary of the Board by Linda Spalinski, Director of Strategic Planning and Community Affairs for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

Alliance for Action President Philip K. Beachem was honored by the organization, Leadership New Jersey, for leadership in economic development.

Beachem was recognized as a member of the 1987 first graduating class of Leadership New Jersey, which included Governor James McGreevey.

Leadership New Jersey was created in 1986 to identify energing leaders and to inform and challenge them as part of a strong statewide network dedicated to making New Jersey a better place to live and work.
